What causes dandruff and how to prevent it naturally ?

What really is dandruff?

Human skin cells are still generated (meaning the oldest cells are shed and new cells are generated) as cells in the skin of the scalp are generated, the old (dead cells) are ejected out. For people suffering from dandruff, new skin cells are generated at a rate faster than they die, this results in more shedding skin, causing more visible dandruff. The risk of developing dandruff is much higher, if the skin is exposed to extreme temperatures.

Dandruff can occur for long term or evade after a short period of time it depends on the triggers. People with dandruff usually have irritation and redness on the scalp, sometimes extreme peeling skin can be caused by a serious illness such as psoriasis. Some people with severe dandruff may have psychological problems as social problems, lack of confidence, depression, etc. Therefore, part of the treatment would become more important for physiological and psychological reasons.

What causes dandruff?

1. The dry skin: skin dryness is one of the most common reasons for dandruff. Flakes which are due to dry skin are mostly smaller and are much less fat than other reasons dandruff and dry skin can also be seen in other parts of the body such as legs and arms.

6. Less than brushing hair: People who do not regularly comb (brush) hair are slightly more at risk of having more dandruff because they are not helping the normal change of the skin that is provided by combing or brushing.

7. Diet: Some research also says that people who consume less foods containing zinc, B vitamins, especially more susceptible to dandruff. Therefore, healthy eating is highly recommended.

8. Stress: an investigation showing the relationship between stress and skin problems, which may be a possibility that dandruff is associated with stress.

Home remedies for dandruff:

There is plenty available treatments for dandruff, but nowadays people prefer more natural way of treating dandruff which is entirely free of chemicals, easily accessible, and certainly harmless.

The following are some simple steps that can help get rid of dandruff naturally:

1. Indian lilac (neem): Neem has very strong medicinal qualities as an antifungal and antibacterial properties that help treat dandruff and other related problems like acne on the scalp, scalp irritation (itching) and fall hair related.

Preparation: Boil some neem leaves (handful) in 4-5 cups water, let it cool and then strain the mixture. You can use this to rinse your hair for two or three times a week.

2. Coconut oil: This is the most common and readily available, it has great antifungal properties that help remove dandruff and dry skin, nourishes dry skin and provide relief from irritation and itching of the scalp, also can add lemon juice to coconut oil and massage into the scalp, which can make it 30 minutes before showering and washing her hair. For best results apply three times a week.

3. Baking soda: This gentle exfoliator that helps remove excess fat and removes dead skin. You can also help balance the pH in the scalp which reduces the growth of fungus that is causing dandruff. You can use this directly into your wet hair and then after 10 minutes you can rinse with water.

4. Olive oil: Olive oil has great quality moisturizer and can help cure dry scalp with regular use of it. Apply hot oil and massage properly, keep it overnight and rinse with shampoo on another day. You can do this twice a week.

5. Tea tree oil: As we all know, dandruff is caused by fungal infection, this tea tree oil has great anti-fungal property that help cure dandruff from its root cause. You can add a few drops of this tea tree oil in shampoo and wash your hair. Or you can also add olive oil or coconut oil in tea tree oil. Apply it in their hair and rinse.

6. Lemon juice: Relieves irritation on the scalp. Just before washing your hair you can apply the mixture of lemon juice with water.

7. Aloe Vera: It is rich in antifungal and antibacterial properties, so you can use it directly on the scalp for best results.

Preventing dandruff:

There are few things that you can do to prevent yourself from this problem of dandruff.

1. Stress management: Stress can have serious effects on your health in general can be done easily susceptible to serious health disorder many. You can even help trigger dandruff or exacerbate their existing symptoms.

2. Frequent Shampoo: If you have an oily scalp, then, wash the scalp more frequently with a mild or herbal shampoo.

3. Avoid hair products: All hair products are rich in chemicals such as hair sprays, hair gels if used can make your scalp more fat and more likely dandruff.

4. Healthy diet: A diet that is rich in zinc, all types of vitamins (especially vitamin B) may help prevent dandruff.

5. Sunlight: Sunlight may be helpful in reducing dandruff. But as more exposure to UV rays can damage the skin and increases the chances of skin cancer, so avoid sunbathing. Instead, just spend some time in the sun can be very useful, especially on a sunny morning two hours of sunrise is considered to be beneficial.
